‘Sauce Mackenzie’ was born in Gary, Indiana within a community that encouraged him to pursue
his wants and desires at a young age. Unfortunately, his own recklessness would lead him into
learning the hard lessons of such a pursuit, causing him to forfeit his freedom in the early stages
of his manhood. As the deception of his will would force him to repay his debt to society behind
bars, he would formulate a plan to repay that debt in full by honoring not only the future
generation, but also his beloved mother who had passed away without ever seeing her son
make it to the right side of liberty. Today, Sauce is here to share his story on how he evolved
from a man running on empty to a man whose cup is running over. From street ordinary to
extraordinary streets, this man is an example of what it means to turn a willful error into an era
of prosperity. He is now a family man, business man, entrepreneur, coach, mentor, community
leader, volunteer, and a token to the evolution of a young black man. Prepare yourself to enter
into the mind of a strategist, and to join the conversation of how a change begins with you.

Concrete Genius Podcast - Bobby Knight Tribute & Coaching Excellence
Welcome to another exciting episode of the Concrete Genius Podcast! I'm your host, Sauce McKenzie, and today we've got a lot to talk about. So, grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and let's dive right into it.
In this episode, we're starting off with a heartfelt tribute to one of Indiana's all-time greats, Coach Bobby Knight. Known for his fiery personality and unparalleled coaching skills, Bobby Knight was a true icon in the world of basketball. I share my personal thoughts and memories of Coach Knight, discussing how he put Indiana on the map and gave us all a sense of pride and identity.
But our conversation doesn't stop there. We delve into the complexities of being from Indiana, a place often overlooked and underestimated. Growing up in Gary, I always felt like I was on my own little island, not quite Chicago but definitely not part of the rest of the state. Bobby Knight, in his own unique way, made it cool to wear Indiana gear and put the state in the national spotlight. His personality, though sometimes brash, was undeniably dominant, much like my own approach to life.
As a young child, I was drawn to great orators and storytellers like Coach Knight. His ability to captivate a room, regardless of whether you loved or hated him, was something I admired. Even now, I see parallels between his charisma and my own, and it reminds me that being confident in who you are is essential.
We also discuss the impact Coach Knight had on the basketball world, particularly on his defensive strategies and attention to detail. I've had the privilege of learning from individuals who were part of his coaching tree, and the knowledge I've gained has helped shape my own coaching philosophy.
But our conversation isn't limited to basketball. We explore the idea of personal growth and how emotions can sometimes get the best of us. We all have our flaws and imperfections, and Coach Knight was no exception. However, it's important to remember the positive contributions people make in their lives and the lives of others.
I also touch on the challenges of coaching, particularly when it comes to developing young talent. Regardless of a player's background or level of skill, I believe in their potential to excel with the right guidance. It's not just about teaching basketball; it's about instilling confidence and helping them become the best version of themselves.
In the latter part of the podcast, we shift gears to discuss some current sports news, including Dwight Howard's situation, Jimmy Garoppolo's benching, and the Raiders' move to Las Vegas. As a lifelong Raiders fan, I have some strong feelings about the team's future, and I'm eager to see how they perform in their new home.
Lastly, I touch on my own coaching endeavors, including my upcoming season coaching girls' basketball. I have a passion for developing talent, and I'm excited to take on this new challenge. I believe in the power of skill development and the impact it can have on young athletes.
So, whether you're a basketball enthusiast, a fan of Coach Bobby Knight, or just someone looking for some engaging conversation, this episode has something for everyone. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the Concrete Genius Podcast – where real talk meets real passion.
